How do I make an order and purchase books on the Bookworld Online store

Placing an order with us is fast and easy. There’s no need to create an account first. You automatically create an account when you place your first order online. Once you have an account, you will be able to:

  • Shop and check out faster on your next visit.
  • Check your order status online.
  • Obtain a history of items you have purchased.
  • Receive updates on special offers, events, and new products and services.
  • Retain items in your ‘Cart and Wish List’.
Which payment methods are accepted on the Bookworld Online store

Payment Options:

  • Pay online (Debit/Credit Card)
  • Mobile Payment
  • Bank transfer

Minimum order amount is KW 200 or greater in order to purchase goods online from our shop for delivery.

How long will delivery take? And do you deliver all over Zambia?

Delivery may take up to two days (longer if the book is out of stock). We deliver all over Zambia with our courier partners.

How do I review my order?

On the Review page of shopping cart, you’ll find a summary of your order, including the total amount. Before you submit your order, you will also have the chance to change any of the payment information you have entered so far. Once you are ready, click on “Place your order” to complete the ordering process.

What happens if an item in my order is out of stock?

Sometimes items desired in your order may fall out of stock while we are processing the order. In this event, you will receive an email notifying you of a delay. If you have other items in your order, they will be shipped as scheduled. We will continue trying to fulfil your order as quickly as possible. You will be asked to approve a 30-Day Order Extension. If you do not approve the extension, this part of your order will be canceled within 24 hours.

Do you deliver books outside Zambia?

Yes, we do deliver books outside Zambia; however courier charges will apply which will be communicated by our sales representative.

Stock

Do you stock the products I am looking for online?

Yes, we offer many of the products you would expect to see at our Bookworld shops in the country. The quickest way to check whether we have a product is to use the search tools on our website, which can be found as a clickable search icon at the top of the page, and in the footer of any of our pages.

Are you in stock?

At the moment, all the books that appear on our online store, means that we are in stock of those books. In cases where we may temporarily run out of stock, you may place a back order on a product and be notified as soon as the book is available and in stock.

Leadtimes are usually summarised as 1-3 days, 4-6 days, 1-2 weeks, 2-4weeks or more. All periods are based on working days (Monday to Friday). If you order a product we will ensure it is dispatched to your address within 24 hours of us receiving stock of your product.

Please note, availability information is updated on a daily basis throughout the day. There is a low risk that if our supplier runs out of stock and you place an order before we have updated our stock availability message then you will wait longer for your order than you expected.

Do you have stock in store?

To find out whether your local store has stock of a product please contact the store.

What can i buy?

Online we offer hundreds of products including all of the books from all our departments.

The key differences between our online and store ranges are:

  • Our online Books range is in the thousands and you can order books not available in store.
  • We will soon be offering e-Books that will be purchasable on our online store and downloaded.
  • Online we will soon be selling magazine subscriptions rather than single issues (most at discounts).
  • Our online Stationery department includes most of the ranges you’ll find in our store.

There are some Stationery items we don’t sell online because of age restrictions (some glues and adhesives) and lower priced consumables which are not viable for home delivery (pins, paper clips).  Our online Gifts include personalised products and an extended range of experience gifts.

Ordering

How do I place an order?

Follow these simple steps to get your order delivered to your door or nearest Bookworld store.

1. Product selection

  • So you’ve found a product you like and you want to buy – select Add to basket.
  • You’ll see a mini basket drop down from the top of the screen with this and any other products you have selected.
  • If you’re ready to place your order, click Go to Checkout.

2. Select product quantity and delivery method

  • You’ll be shown what’s in your basket. Choose how many of each item and select your delivery option. If you have a promotion code, you can enter it here.
  • Now click Go to Checkout.

3. Checkout

  • New visitors need not register for an account – you can just checkout as a guest. Enter your email address so that we can update you about your order and add a delivery address.
  • Enter your delivery address – we’ll find your address or a local store from your postcode
  • You’ll now be taken to the payment details page – enter your Gift card, credit or debit card details and add your billing address.
  • Happy? Proceed with your order to head to the confirmation page.

4. Confirm your order

  • You’ll now see your confirmation page. You’ll also be sent a confirmation email to say your order’s been received – and another email when your order’s ready to be dispatched.
  • To track your order online and allow us to remember your details for next time – create an account by adding a password.
  • Either Continue Shopping or Log Out if you’re finished.
How do I place an order?

We’ve made you a simple guide to help you buy products online.

Do I need to register to order?

Yes – new customers can only check out after creating an account.

You can create an account by adding a password on the confirmation page at the end of checkout.

By creating an account you’ll get these benefits:

  • track your order
  • quick checkout next time
  • cancel an order online if you wish
  • create a wish list
  • review your order history
  • manage your email newsletter preferences

It’s really easy to create an account. Just add a password on the confirmation page when you checkout or go to my account.

What happens after I place my order?

Immediately after checking out …

  • First time customers can choose to create an account by adding a password on the order confirmation page.
  • We will confirm your order by email.

Within 24 hours …

  • We will usually dispatch in stock products or place orders with our supplier for products we do not have stock of.

Then …

  • We’ll dispatch each item as soon as we receive it.
  • Once payment is received your goods will be dispatched.
  • If the product becomes unavailable (the publisher may decide not to reprint a book) we’ll let you know by email.
  • Once you create an account, you can check your order’s progress by logging in and accessing my account.  You can also check the status of your order and shipment tracking status.

Paying

Is Payment Secure?

You can shop with confidence at bookworldzambia.com. Keeping your information secure is one of our top priorities.

To keep your name, address, credit card details and other information safe, we use the best security software available.

This is called SSL and it encrypts your personal information to make sure it’s protected to the highest standard.

How SSL works
When you go to our checkout, you enter a secure part of our website. You’ll see a closed padlock icon in your browser – this shows you that the information you give will be transferred securely.

When will I be charged?

Your credit or debit card will not be charged until your order is ready to send

  • We ask your bank to set aside (or reserve) the money in your account to pay for your order. Although this money may still show in your account, you won’t be able to spend it.
  • We typically reserve funds for 3-10 days and only take the money when your order is ready to send out.
  • For more details on card payments, see our terms and conditions.
  • Gift Cards and Paypal are charged when you place your order. Should we not fulfil your order we will refund you.
What if I need to cancel an order?

We charge credit and debit cards when we are ready to dispatch your order to you. Therefore if you cancel an order we will not take payment.

We charge Gift Cards and PayPal when you place the order, so if you cancel we refund your Gift Card or PayPal account.

What if there is a problem with payment?

If your bank doesn’t authorise your payment, a message will appear on the order placement page in checkout telling you what to do next. Please note that only your bank can tell you why your card has been declined.

If we can’t take payment from your card when your order is ready to send – because your card has expired, for example – we’ll send you an email asking you to contact us with new payment details. If we haven’t heard from you within 7 days, we’ll cancel your order.

Do you store my payment details?

You enter your payment card details in checkout. After you’ve checked out you can choose to create an account so that we remember your details for next time. When you create an account your card will be available to use again in 24 hours.

You can save several credit and debit cards and pick the one you want to use.

We don’t store your details here, we pass them to our secure payment provider and refer to them by a code number when you next make an order.

Delivery & Collection

How much does delivery cost and how long does it take?

In stock, products are usually dispatched within 24 hours of your order (delivery time varies depending on your location). If we need to get stock of a product before we can send it to you then you need to allow for the availability lead-time and delivery time (could take up to 2-3 weeks). We send each product as soon as we receive stock of it so we may split your order to get your items to you asap.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery costs depend on the weight and value of the books/products and will be done via EMS at very cost effective rates. In addition, your purchase can also be arranged to be picked up from any EMS office within Zambia.
